Sleep Gear for Seasonal Affective Disorder

Posted by Mentally Interesting on March 13, 2006

Light therapy has been recommended for all types of mental illnesses, especially SAD. I’ve never been able to try it for more than 3 days in a row because I get tired of sitting in front of a light for 20 minutes every morning. Plus, the optimal time to absorb this light is before you wake up.

Introducing the Light Sleeper from loop.ph designs. Its a bedding set that uses electroluminescent threads to illuminate your bed.

Cool stuff:
• Functions as an alarm clock
• Looks really cool (or really nerdy, depending on your perspective)
• Provides the all important 10,000 Lux
• Light is gradually intensified over a 15 – 20 minute period
• Often people don’t get the benefits of their light therapy because they sit too far away from the light source. Now you’re face is going to be smooshed up against it.
But its just a design right now, there’s no purchasing information available. And you know its going to be expensive as hell. Also, I’d like to know how its powered… and how to wash it.

Still… its a cool idea.
